Untitled Haiku 1-6

by Nimalah Baaith-Ducharme

      1.
I counted primrose,
9 of the same starlit hue,
Over and over.

      2.
Rain on a window.
My eyes would not find you in
the clouds of static.

      3.
Ink scrawled on my cheeks.
Falling onto the flowers.
Raven’s wings settled.

      4.
I scrubbed the petals
with the bones of my fingers.
They stained evening.

      5.
I tarnished my bone.
With pestle and mortar, they
were ground into stars.

      6.
Where the sky met sand
My eyes confessed to the raven
holding primroses.
