Washed Out
by Charli Littleton
Stars cascade the sky like a rushing sea
as I close my iridescent eyes and listen.
The night is silent, I am left with only me.
A bird coos softly in a nearby tree
and a breeze whispers secrets against my skin
as stars cascade the sky like a rushing sea.
I lie down and let the moon shower me
in harmonious light, my lips settle in a grin.
The night is still silent, I am left with only me.
My mind is no longer frantic but instead free.
The shimmering stars mystically dance and spin
as they cascade the sky like a rushing sea.
The moon disappears as the sky grows cloudy,
I feel a gloomy loneliness growing within.
The night is silent, I am left with only me.
The roaring wind dangerously moves trees
as drops of rain crash down on my chilled skin.
Stars used to cascade the sky like a rushing sea
but now the night has washed over me.
