Dawn Potter
Poet Laureate of Maine, 2026-2031
Dawn Potter is the author of ten books of prose and poetry, including Calendar (Deerbrook Editions, 2024); Same Old Story (Cavankerry Press, 2014); How the Crimes Happened (Cavankerry Press, 2010); and Boy Land and Other Poems (Deerbrook Editions, 2003).
She is the recipient of a Maine Literary Award for nonfiction, in addition to grants and fellowships from the Elizabeth George Foundation, the Writer's Center, and the Maine Arts Commission. Potter leads poetry programs at Monson Arts and lives in Portland. In 2026, Potter was appointed the poet laureate of Maine through 2031.
