Twilight’s Teeth

by Mena Sutphin

When the night whispers your name,

answer its call.

Let the light of the moon guide your path

as your feet pound into the earth.

Your rabbit heart beats with

The force of a thousand drums

as shadows stretch, hungry and hollow.

The darkness purrs,

knowing its prize is near.

Do you feel its watchful eyes?

Each step is no longer yours to take.

The dark’s mistress waits for you.
