Join us at the 2017 AWP Conference & Bookfair on the evening Saturday, February 11, 2017 for a reading with Academy of American Poets Chancellor Terrance Hayes, former Chancellor Rita Dove and 2016 Whiting Award winner Ocean Vuong. Jennifer Benka, Executive Director of the Academy of American Poets, will introduce the event.
Ocean is the author of Night Sky With Exit Wounds (Copper Canyon Press, 2016), which received the Whiting Award.
Terrance is the author of five poetry collections. In 2014, he received a McArthur Fellowship. He was elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets in 2017.
Rita served as poet laureate of the United States from 1993 to 1995, and as poet laureate of Virginia from 2004 to 2006. She served as a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets from 2005 to 2011.
