Morning’s a new bird
stirring against me
out of a quiet nest,
coming to flight—
quick-changing,
slow-nodding,
breath-filling body,
life-holding,
waiting,
clean as clear water,
warmth-given,
fire-driven
kindling companion,
mystery and mountain,
dark-rooted,
earth-anchored.
