Composer Mohammed Fairouz, who joined us at our Poetry & the Creative Mind gala last April at Lincoln Center in New York City, has written the timely and apocalyptic choral piece "The Second Coming." The recursive 'turning' motif in "The Second Coming" was inspired by the central image in W. B. Yeats's poem of the same title, which begins "Turning and turning in the widening gyre / The falcon cannot hear the falconer; / Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;  / Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world."

In this video, the Harmonium Choral Society conducted by Anne Matlack, perform Fairouz's powerful arrangement.
