Catharine Savage Brosman

Catharine Savage Brosman, known widely for her poetry, criticism, and essays, is the author of fifteen poetry collections, of which the latest are Aerosols and Other Poems (Green Altar Books, 2023) and Arm in Arm (Mercer University Press, 2022). Her collected short fiction, An Aesthetic Education and Other Stories (Green Altar Books), first appeared in 2019 and in a second, enlarged edition in 2022.

Brosman is a professor emerita of French at Tulane University. Her fields of scholarly specialization are French literary history and criticism and American regional literary history and biography. In the latter vein, she has published Louisiana Creole Literature: A Historical Study (University Press of Mississippi, 2024).

A native of Colorado and a current resident of Houston, Brosman lived for nearly forty years in New Orleans.
