Bryan Borland

Bryan Borland was born in Dumas, Arkansas, and raised in Monticello, Arkansas. He received a BA from Hendrix College.

He is the author of DIG (Stillhouse Press, 2016), Less Fortunate Pirates: Poems from the First Year Without My Father (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2012), and My Life as Adam (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2010), selected by the American Library Association for “Over the Rainbow,” its recommendation list for LGBT-themed publications.

A 2015 Lambda Fellow, Borland is also the recipient of a 2016 Judith A. Markowitz Emerging Writer Award from Lambda Literary. The judges’ citation notes, “Mr. Borland has demonstrated that he is energetic and ambitious not only for his own beautiful work, but for his community of LGBTQ poets.”

Borland is the founding editor of Assaracus: A Journal of Gay Poetry and of Sibling Rivalry Press, which he copublishes with his husband, Seth Pennington. He lives in Little Rock, Arkansas.
