Louise Bogan
Louise Bogan, born on August 11, 1897, in Livermore Falls, Maine, was a poet and critic. The author of six poetry collections, including The Blue Estuaries: Poems, 1923–1968 (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1968), she was the fourth Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, a position now known as the United States Poet Laureate. Bogan died on February 4, 1970, in New York City.
