I hope this is the right forum for this. Our group would fall into the category of "private, membership required to view and post." (If this is not the right forum for this, I would love to know if there is a forum or thread more appropriate for announcements or invitations like these. Thank you!)

Swirl and Swing is a free, private, online women’s writing group. We are a small group looking to recruit a few new members.

Our members work in a variety of forms, including poetry, fiction, children’s literature, and memoir, and represent a range of writing, publishing, and professional experience. Our mission is to foster a small but vibrant community of writers; to share our work, joys and frustrations; to encourage and inspire each other; and to serve as sounding boards and sources of constructive criticism. The group is casual, social, and a great deal of fun, placing greater emphasis on inspiration, sharing our work and writing lives with each other, and generating new material, than on extensive critique.
We offer a variety of writing activities, including weekly and monthly assignments that are generated by members on a rotating schedule. In addition, we have a featured writer section each month that allows members an opportunity to work and seek feedback on additional writing projects.

If this sounds like the group for you, please send a brief bio and a sample of three poems or pieces of short fiction that are representative of your work to Ingrid at swirl.and.swing@verizon.net.

Thanks Christine. I also found some more usefull forums and boards with additional poetry contests. It may be fun to form groups here where we could do similar workshops as offered deeper into the dmoz site.

William
